Golden- Agers or Disability Massage Care Services

An elderly woman with long gray hair, smiling and wearing a headband, sitting indoors near a window with natural light and a blurred background happy after receiving a hand massage at her rest home.
  • Choose the best way to feel better in just 15–30 minutes a week.

With Jade the Massage Therapist in Frankton, Queenstown, we offer short, gentle sessions on a chair or a table — ideal for older adults who want safe, effective relief without long appointments. Sessions range from $20 to $65 depending on length and choice of treatment.

    What we offer

Seated chair massage (15–30 mins, $20–$35)

    • Gentle, fully clothed treatment focused on the neck, shoulders, upper back and arms.

    • Comfortable for those with limited mobility or who prefer not to lie down.

    • Techniques used: light kneading, gentle trigger point release, and simple tension-relieving stretches tailored to older bodies.

    • Good for easing stiffness from arthritis, improving circulation, and providing quick relaxation between appointments or activities.

    • Consistent treatment can assist with reducing anxiety and stress

    Table massage (20–30 mins, $25–$55)

    • Performed on a treatment table with appropriate support and positioning for comfort.

    • Allows deeper, yet controlled work across the whole back, shoulders, neck and upper limbs.

    • Techniques used: remedial soft tissue work, myofascial release, and targeted trigger point therapy adapted to individual tolerance and medical needs.

    • Suitable if you have specific areas of pain, reduced range of motion, or want more comprehensive care.

Why 15–30 minutes weekly works for older adults

    • Gentle, consistent sessions reduce accumulated tension, help maintain joint mobility, and support better posture.

    • Regular short treatments can prevent small aches becoming persistent problems and may improve sleep and daily comfort.

    • Time-efficient and low fatigue: sessions are long enough to make a noticeable difference but short enough to avoid tiring you.

    How to decide

    • Choose chair massage if you prefer to stay fully clothed, have limited mobility, or want a quick, gentle session focused on the upper body.

    • Choose table massage if you can lie comfortably and need deeper, more comprehensive treatment for specific pain or stiffness.

    • Adaptive options available for bedfast clients.

    Safety and comfort

    • We adapt pressure, techniques, and positioning for any health conditions (arthritis, osteoporosis concerns, joint replacements, or other medical issues). Please tell us about medications, recent surgeries, or diagnoses before your session.

    • Sessions are relaxed and paced with your comfort in mind. You may bring a companion if that helps.

  • Fascia-Focused Fun: Gentle Movement Sessions for Older Adults

    What we offer

    • Short, safe sessions lasting 30–60 minutes.

    • Options for one-on-one or small group formats.

    • Activities designed around fascia health: gentle stretches, mindful mobility, light resistance, and playful partner or group exercises.

    • Focus on improving body confidence, balance, ease of movement, and everyday function.

Why fascia-focused movement helps older adults

    • Fascia is connective tissue that affects joint mobility, posture, and comfort. Gentle, consistent movement can help maintain elasticity and reduce stiffness.

    • Sessions emphasise slow, controlled range-of-motion and mobility patterns that are easy to follow and low-impact.

    • Group games add social connection and motivation, while one-on-one sessions allow personalised pacing and adaptations for individual needs.

    Session types

    • 30-minute individual session: Quick, focused work on problem areas, simple mobility drills, and home-practice tips.

    • 60-minute individual session: Deeper fascial release work, tailored movement sequences, and functional exercises to support daily activities.

    • 30-minute group session: Short, themed classes with simple games and partner activities that promote movement confidence.

    • 60-minute group session: A fuller class combining gentle warm-up, guided fascia-focused activities, and supportive group games to build coordination and trust in movement.

    Safety and approach

    • All activities are low impact and adapted to accommodate limited mobility, pain, or balance concerns.

    • Sessions begin with an intake to understand medical history, mobility limits, and personal goals.

    • Modifications offered for seated or standing positions; use of chairs, props, and light resistance as needed.

    • Emphasis on listening to the body, breathing, and slow progress rather than pushing through discomfort.

    What participants can expect

    • Improved ease of movement and reduced stiffness.

    • Greater confidence moving in daily life: standing, turning, reaching, and walking.

    • A supportive, respectful atmosphere that values safety and enjoyment.

    • Practical take-home exercises to continue gentle practice between sessions.

    Booking information

  • Walk or sit and talk with Jade, your remedial massage therapist, as an introduction to massage therapy to build trust and connection before booking a session.

Each walk-and-talk session is $30, starting at 20 minutes.

    • We can look into firmer pressure at this point, but need to be advised to do so by your surgeons.
